Red Raiders down Tigers in five sets

MITCHELL, S.D. – Despite taking a 2-1 advantage heading into set four, the Dakota Wesleyan University women's volleyball team was unable to hold off the Northwestern College Red Raiders in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match-up on Wednesday night inside the Christen Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.

 Set scores were 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 25-15 and 15-9 in favor of the Red Raiders.

 NWC, who is receiving votes in the recent NAIA volleyball polls, took set one from the Tigers, but the DWU offense held the Red Raider's in check in set two and three. Northwestern eventually came back to taje set four, leading as much as 14-4 at one point. NWC kept DWU at bay in set five, to secure the victory.

  Seniors Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.), Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) and Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) recorded double-double's. Tadlock finished with 19 kills and 15 digs, while Misiaszek added 13 kills and 16 digs. Van Epps tallied four kills, 44 assists and 11 digs. The setter also tallied her 3,000th career dig for the Tigers. Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) added 31 digs in the loss, putting her 39 digs away from fifth place on the DWU all-time digs list.

 The Tigers (15-10, 3-8) step out of conference play, hosting Presentation College for Senior Night at 7:30 p.m., Friday in Mitchell, S.D.
