Tigers drop GPAC match in straight sets

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team played at home for the finaltime in the 2016 season, dropping a Great Plains Athletic Conference match-up to Briar Cliff University in three sets Wednesday in the Christen Family Athletic Center in Mitchell, S.D.

 Set scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 27-25 in favor of Briar Cliff.

 The Chargers cruised over the Tigers in the first two sets, but DWU held strong in the third set before BCU rallied back to take the finale 27-25.

 Senior Lauren Tadlock (Rapid City, S.D.) tallied 13 kills and 10 digs, good for a double-double, while Dana Misiaszek (Mitchell, S.D.) added 10 kills and Rebecca Frick (Yankton S.D.) had eight. Libero Taylor Spence (North Branch, Minn.) recorded 17 digs and Michelle Van Epps (Lakefield, Minn.) pitched in 27 assists and nine digs.

 Wednesday was the final home game for seven seniors that included Tadlock, Spence, Van Epps, Misiaszek, Emily Pengilly (Watertown, S.D.), Marissa Soderberg (Roundup, Mont.) and Shelbie Budmayr (Belle Fourche, S.D.).

 The Tigers (17-14, 3-12 GPAC) visit College of Saint Mary for their final regular season game at 2 p.m. Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
