MITCHELL, S.D. – Another double-double from Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) helped propel the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team to a three-straight set victory on Friday night against Grace University in the Corn Palace Classic in Mitchell.
The sophomore tallied 16 kills and 18 digs to lead the Tigers as set scores were, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-13.
It was all DWU in the first as they tallied a .257 hitting percentage compared to the .079 percentage put up by Grace. The Royals put up a fight in the second set, but a powerful offensive attack proved to be enough for DWU. In the finale, it was the Tigers once more leading by as much as 10 points on their way to a .341 hitting percentage in set three.
Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) added nine kills, while Kimberly VanBockern (Arlington, S.D.) had seven kills. Freshman Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded 37 assists and seven digs. Fellow freshman Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) pitched in 21 digs.
The Tigers (5-2) are back in action on Saturday in the Corn Palace Classic, taking on Clarke University at 9 a.m. and Dakota State University at 7 p.m.
