Morningside tops DWU women in four sets

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's volleyball team looked to stay in the win column, however the Morningside College Mustangs had other plans, defeating DWU in four sets in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Tuesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Set scores were: 21-25, 25-9, 25-19 and 25-16 in favor of Morningside.

The Tigers got off to a fast start, taking set one from the Mustangs. The lead quickly faded for DWU in the final three sets as the Morningside offense proved to be too much for the young Tiger squad.

Rebecca Frick (Yankton, S.D.) tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) chipped in five kills and four block assists. Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) also added a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs. Sara Herman (Reliance, S.D.) had 14 digs in the loss.

The Tigers end their season with an overall record of 16-18 and a 3-13 record in conference play, while graduating three seniors.
