Frick tabbed First Team, as three Tigers named All-GPAC

MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second time since the 2002 season, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team landed an athlete on the All-Conference First Team as junior outside hitter Becky Frick (Yankton, S.D.) was tabbed with the honor as the Tigers collected three All-Conference players this season, it was announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wednesday.

MITCHELL, S.D. – For the second time since the 2002 season, the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team landed an athlete on the All-Conference First Team as junior outside hitter Becky Frick (Yankton, S.D.) was tabbed with the honor as the Tigers collected three All-Conference players this season, it was announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference Wednesday.

 Frick is the eighth player in school history to receive All-GPAC First Team honors as she most recently joins Lauren Tadlock who notched the award in 2016. Frick led the team this season with 504 kills, 469 digs, and 20 aces. She finished second in the conference for total kills per set and finished fourth in the conference in digs. Frick also ranked nationally in kills per game with 4.5 and ranked seventh in total kills.

 Frick recorded two career highs this season as she tallied 26 kills in a game against Friends University (Kan.) and also notched 29 digs at Presentation College. She was named GPAC Attacker of the Week twice throughout the 2018 season, she also recorded over 20 kills in nine matches and over 20 digs in seven matches for the Tigers. Frick reached 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs this fall, as she currently sits fourth in school history for kills with 1,210 and 12th for digs with 1,015.

 Joining Frick on the All-Conference list was Bridgett Knobbe (Norfolk, Neb.) and Emily Brunsing (Wagner, S.D.) as both were named to the Honorable Mention Team. Knobbe finished the season with 1,050 set assists and 247 digs. She averaged 9.3 assists per set and distributed the ball for the Tigers all season long. She currently has 2,116 assists in her career along with 551 career digs.

 Brunsing also made an impact on this year's squad leading the team in blocks with 126. Brunsing also tallied a career high in kills this season with 198. She has recorded 245 total blocks in her career and finished second in the conference in total blocks with 126 and fourth in blocks per set with 1.1.

 DWU finished the season with an overall record of 17-14, good for their first winning season since 2016.
