TIGERS FALL TO TOP-RANKED JIMMIES AT HOME

Mitchell, S.D. – No. 13 Dakota Wesleyan volleyball dropped a tough three-set match to No. 1 Jamestown at home Friday night. The Tigers hit their best in the third set with .278 percent despite the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The University of Jamestown came out quick in the first set, grabbing a 3-0 lead early.
  • DWU answered with three points, tying the score a 3-3.
  • After DWU tied the score at 10-10, UJ found their rhythm going on a four-point run to take the lead 15-11.
  • The Tigers didn't regain the lead or even tie set one after that, only getting within four points.
  • Dakota Wesleyan found their groove in the second set, jumping ahead quickly with a 10-6 lead.
  • DWU tacked on seven points for the 20-12 lead in the second set.
  • As neither the Jimmies of the Tigers wanted to drop the second set, they quickly found themselves in a 24-24 tie.
  • Dakota Wesleyan couldn't get another point in the second set as Jamestown took set two for the 26-24 set two win.
  • The Tigers hit their best in the third set with a .278, but it proved not enough as they dropped the third set, 23-25.
  • In the match, Ady Dwight led the team with nine kills, Abigail Brunsing followed with eight kills of her own for a hitting percentage of .412 to lead the Tigers.
  • Madeline Else tallied 31 assists and two block assists in the match.
  • Dwight was a part of seven block assists in the match, and Brunsing earned the lone solo block of the night.
  • Hannah Reiff led the team with 16 of the 47 total team digs.

Dakota Wesleyan Volleyball hits the road for a lone weekend match. The Tigers will look to bounce back against the College of Saint Mary at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Omaha, Nebraska.
