NO. 15 TIGERS VOLLEYBALL GRABS 20TH WIN OF SEASON AGAINST NO. 23 DOANE

Mitchell, S.D. – No. 15 Dakota Wesleyan volleyball grabbed the four-set win against No. 23 Doane Saturday afternoon. DWU notched a team season-high 94 digs in a four-set match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After DWU took the first set win 25-16, Doane rallied in the second set for a 17-8 lead over the Tigers.
  • That trend continued as Dakota Wesleyan dropped the set, and Doane tied the match a 1-1.
  • In the third set, neither team had a lead larger than four, which belonged to the Tigers at 17-13.
  • The Tigers of Doane did what they could to not drop the third set, tying the score at 24-24.
  • Ady Dwight came up big with the final two points needed to win set three 26-24.
  • Doane grabbed a big lead right away in the fourth set, going ahead 9-3 after an attack error by Taylee Indahl.
  • After a DWU timeout and still training 17-13, the Tigers went on an 11-0 run to take the lead 24-17 for a set and match point.
  • Doane grabbed one more point in the set before Dwight closed the door securing the 25-18 set win and 3-1 match win.
  • The Tigers hit .253 percent in the match with 59 kills while allowing Doane to hit .145 percent with only 47 kills.
  • Dwight notched 19 kills and a hitting percentage of .255 as Mariah Gloe tallied 17 kills and hit .412 percent.
  • Madeline Else recorded 52 assists, 22 digs, and two block assists in the match
  • Hanna Reiff led the defensive effort with 28 digs.
  • Gloe added four total blocks to her line, one solo and three assisted on the afternoon.

No. 15 Dakota Wesleyan volleyball closes out their weeklong homestand on Tuesday, October 19th, against the Saints of Presentation College. The junior varsity squads will meet at 6 p.m. in the Christen Athletic Center. Then at 7:30 p.m., the Varsity squads will take the court for a non-conference matchup.
