TIGERS HIT .304 PERCENT IN THREE-SET SWEEP OVER VIKINGS

Sioux City, Iowa – Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball picked up their first NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament pool play win ever. Three Tigers tally double-digit kills in Ady Dwight (15), Mariah Gloe (13), and Mackenzie Miller (12).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening set was close as DWU and GVU saw seven ties until the Tigers broke away with a two-point lead.
- Grand View made a late push in the opening set, bringing the Dakota Wesleyan lead back to two points.
- With the score at 23-21 Tigers lead; DWU tallied their final two points needed with a kill from Miller and Gloe.
- In the opening set, DWU hit .375 percent with 18 kills and only three errors while keeping GVU to 14 kills, four errors, and a .213 hitting percentage.
- With a one-set lead, Dakota Wesleyan made a run right from the start in the second set, going ahead 18-9.
- The Vikings went on a 10-3 run after the DWU run, cutting the Tigers lead to 21-19.
- Dakota Wesleyan and Grand View were tied late in the second set at 22 each.
- The Tigers allowed one more point from the Vikings as DWU picked up the set two win 25-23.
- DWU hit their worst of the match in set two with a .200, notching 13 kills.
- GVU hit their best in the second set with 15 kills for a .250 hitting percentage.
- The final set of the match; had seven ties before DWU made another run for the 15-10 lead.
- While Grand View kept the pressure on Dakota Wesleyan throughout the remainder of the third set, the Tigers were able to pull it out with a 25-19 win and the sweep to open pool play.
- In the match, DWU hit .304 with 48 kills on 115 attempts.
- Dwight led the team in hitting percentage with .400 as Miller followed hitting, .375 percent.
- The Tigers allowed 41 kills by GVU while they hit .182 percent.

Dakota Wesleyan volleyball continues its historic season tomorrow afternoon from the Tyson Event Center. DWU will face Park University at 1 p.m. in the final game for pool D. The Tigers and Pirates will compete on court two, deciding who will advance to bracket play that begins Thursday.
