Recap
The Lancers held a 9-7 early in set on using a well-balanced attack to keep the Tiger blockers guessing. Early on signs that Tyler was on with her three kills foreshadowed how the rest of the game was going to go with Hybertson looking fours' way more than usual. Trailing 9-7, DWU responded with a mini 4-0 run to regain the lead. It was the All-American Dwight that propelled the Tigers during this run registering two kills and a block. Dakota Wesleyan now with the 11-9 lead, kept that lead throughout the remainder of the set and really pulled away towards the end with the score at 18-15 with a 7-2 run to grab the 25-17 set one win. Tyler led with her four kills in the set, but it was Dwight who led the way with her 6.0 points responsible for in the set.
Set two it was DWU this time who claimed an early lead, a lead they never surrendered throughout the set. The Tigers won the race to 10 points, leading 10-5 and drawing a Mount Marty timeout to talk things over. Dwight was all over the Lancers during the 10-point run, being responsible for six of the 10 points. Out of the timeout both squads went back and forth trading point for point to leave the score at 13-9 DWU. Dakota Wesleyan got a kill from Logan Bly, ace from Callie Slagter, and a MMU attack error to increase their lead to 16-9 and making the Lancers take another timeout. The timeout proved beneficial as the Lancers closed the Tigers seven-point gap to four with the score at 21-17, drawing a Wilber timeout. The Tigers sunk their claws in out of the timeout, closing MMU out 4-1 for a 25-18 set two win. Dwight led with seven kills in the set to go along with two blocks.
Set three had the Lancers and Tigers trading point for point with seven ties with the score at 7-7. The Tigers used a well-balanced attack during the seven points getting kills from five different players. DWU started to pull away a little from there with a 7-2 run, drawing a Mount Marty timeout. It proved to be another well used timeout as the Lancers went on a 5-0 run, their biggest of the night to tie it at 14. Wilber keeping confidence in her squad to rally on their own did not use a timeout. It proved to be the right move as Hybertson went to Tyler, the 5'5 outside hitter from Mitchell for the next three points for DWU. Mount Marty tied it back up at 17 after the kills by Tyler. The Tigers bared down and had no plans of playing more than three sets as they closed the Lancers out on an 8-4 run to earn the 25-21 set three win and three-set victory. Tyler went crazy in the third set not only on offense with her eight kills in the set, but also defensively with nine digs in the set.
