Seward, Neb. - Dakota Wesleyan battled hard but came up short in a 9-4 loss, staying even through five innings before Concordia pulled ahead with a big sixth. Caleb Meyers led the way with two hits, two RBIs, and a solid start on the mound, while Lane Darrow sparked the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Despite some strong individual performances, defensive miscues and late walks proved costly for the Tigers.
Dakota Wesleyan 4, Concordia 9
Dakota Wesleyan fell 9-4 to Concordia in a game where both teams were tied 2-2 through five innings. Caleb Meyers started on the mound for the Tigers and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks, with six strikeouts. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Lane Darrow led the team offensively, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Dakota Wesleyan scored twice in the third inning and added two more in the seventh.
The Tigers used four pitchers. After Meyers exited in the sixth, Nathaniel Huisken faced four batters and gave up three runs on one hit, two walks, a hit batter, and two wild pitches. Brayden Cherrey followed with two innings of relief, allowing two runs on one hit and eight walks while striking out three. Broc Berry recorded the final out of the eighth inning. In total, Dakota Wesleyan pitchers allowed nine runs (seven earned) on six hits and 16 walks with 10 strikeouts.
Offensively, Dakota Wesleyan finished with seven hits and four RBIs. Dexter Payne and Joseph Tharaldson each drove in a run. Darrow and Carter Olek had doubles. The Tigers struck out 18 times and left eight runners on base. Defensively, they committed three errors—two by Payne and one by Mason Riley.
