Martin named NAIA All-American, Spicer and Hoglund earn Honorable Mention

MITCHELL, S.D. – Following a third-straight trip to the NAIA Men’s National Basketball Tournament, the accolades continue for the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team. Senior Tate Martin (Mitchell, S.D.) was named to the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America First-Team while Jason Spicer (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Ty Hoglund (Dell Rapids, S.D.) were each named Honorable Mention, it was announced by the NAIA Thursday.

Martin named GPAC Player of the Year, Hoglund earns Freshman of the Year honors

MITCHELL, S.D. – For the first time in Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball history, the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year winners reside in two DWU athletes. Tate Martin was named Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year and Ty Hoglund was named Freshman of the Year, it was announced by the conference Wednesday.

MITCHELL, S.D. – Facing a 10-point deficit with eight minutes left, the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team battled their way back to force overtime. However, the comeback was not enough as DWU fell to Concordia University, 109-106 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference showdown Sunday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

MITCHELL, S.D. – When the No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team needed a basket, freshman Ty Hoglund (Dell Rapids, S.D.) was there to answer the call. With 11:27 to play in the first half, Hoglund had accounted for 10 of the Tigers’ 20 points after making one of many layups as the Tigers went on to defeat Hastings College 84-79 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action Saturday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
