Hunter Shanks
Mitchell, S.D. – Tiger athlete-of-the-week award goes to Sophomore, men’s track athlete Hunter Shanks from Bennington, Neb. Shanks broke the school record in the 800m that has stood since 1975, almost making it a 50-year old record. Hunter crossed the finish line at 1:59.41, just beating the 1:59.84 time set by Steve Mach in 1975.
Shanks has competed in all three meets this season, finishing with a 9:41.64 time in the 3000m which was a personal record and placed him second at the DWU Snow Tiger Invite. At the Dordt Open Hunter competed in the 600m coming in third place with a 1:27.31 time.
Shanks and the Tigers are back in action when they make the trip to Storm Lake, Iowa for the Dennis Young Classic (Host: Buena Vista) January 27th & 28th.
