The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is Jared Rabenberg, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Monday.
In his first meet of his senior season at the SDSU Early Bird, Rabenberg tallied a leap of 6-10.75 feet, good for fourth place. The athletes who finished ahead of Rabenberg included three NCAA Division I athletes, including two from the University of South Dakota and one from the University of Minnesota.
The finish for the Britton, S.D., native was an ‘A’ Standard, meaning he automatically qualified for the NAIA National Championships in March. The mark is also the second-best mark in the NAIA in the early season.
Rabenberg already holds the school record for high jump in indoor track and field with a mark of 7-0.25. His mark he hit on Saturday is good enough for second in school history as well.
The DWU track and field teams compete at the Concordia Early Bird Multi on Friday and Saturday in Seward, Neb.
