Bio

Dan Wagner has been a member of the Dakota Wesleyan University sports medicine team since 2001. He took over the role as the athletic training educational director and has been instrumental in helping this program receive national accreditation through CAATE. Besides his role as a professor in the athletic training education program, he has many roles on selective committees across the DWU campus. He is a native of Webster, S.D., and his prior experience includes athletic training program director and head athletic trainer at Mount Marty College from 1997 to 2001. He also worked at Yankton Medical Center in Yankton from 1994 to 1997, providing athletic training services to MMC and Yankton High School, as well as working in the performance enhancement center and physical therapy departments. While at Mount Marty, Wagner was a faculty member who taught athletic training and exercise science courses.

Wagner received his doctorate in education from the University of South Dakota in 2002. He completed his Master of Science degree from Indiana State University while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He received his undergraduate degree in athletic training from South Dakota State University, where he also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for one year.

He is certified by the American Health and Safety Institute in CPR and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association.

His primary athletic training coverage responsibilities include the wrestling team.
