General: Mr. Basketball Finalist and Prep Hoops Class ‘B’ MVP, Sam Arend, comes to DWU from Emery, S.D., where he helped the Huskies win the 2017 State ‘B’ Basketball Championship after a 26-0 season.

High School: Averaged 13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game his senior season … shot 59 percent from the field, 36 percent from 3-point range and 79 percent from the line … scored over 1,000 points… Spirit of Su winner and All-Tournament Team member in 2017 … named Second Team All-State his senior year and First Team All-Conference his junior and senior seasons … Second Team All-Conference his sophomore season … National Honor Society, Superior Honor Roll and ‘A’ Honor Roll member … four-year participant of the basketball team … also competed on the football and baseball teams for Bridgewater-Emery.
