Bio

Sam Nicholson a native of Blair, Neb., joins the DWU Tiger men’s basketball staff in the summer of 2023 after having multiple other stops around the region. Nicholson’s previous stop was at non-conference rival Dakota State where he served as the assistant coach under Gary Garner. He assisted in daily team operations including recruiting, scouting, and player development. 

Prior to that he was a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II Concordia St. Paul after holding a student assistant position on the University of South Dakota men’s basketball team for four seasons, including their 2017 Summit League Championship run. 

Sam graduated in 2020 from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelors in Elementary Education & Special Education prior to a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia St. Paul in 2022.

Sam resides in Mitchell, S.D.
