Celeste Beck, promoted to Associate Head Coach during the fall of 2021, enters her 12th overall season with the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball program as both a player and a coach.

 In her eight seasons on the sideline, Beck has aided vitally in recruiting, player development, game day operations, and much more behind the scenes. She has also helped guide and mentor a plethora of players to both All-American and All-GPAC status while serving as the academic supervisor off the court in order to aid the program in maintaining a 3.7 GPA. Additionally, the 2014-15 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection has assisted the Tigers to new heights on the national stage with six appearances at the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament including a return trip in 2021-22. 

The Sioux Falls, S.D., native meanwhile coached three games in 2018-19 while Christensen was sidelined. She led the Tigers to three road victories over Briar Cliff, Mount Marty and Doane.

Beck graduated from DWU in May 2015 with a degree in biology and a minor in business. She has a list of accomplishments in her time with the women’s basketball team, including NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, CoSIDA Academic All-District, NAIA Scholar-Athlete, All-GPAC First Team, All-GPAC Second Team, and All-GPAC Honorable Mention.  Beck also set the school record for 3-point percentage in a season as a sophomore (48.8%) and ended her career with 1,262 points.

Before coming to Dakota Wesleyan University, Beck graduated from Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School.  At Roosevelt, Beck had a successful career.  She was a three-year starter and finished her senior season with 255 points, 93 rebounds, 106 assists and 35 steals.  Beck helped the Rough Riders to a 22-4 record and a fifth-place finish at the South Dakota Class “AA” State Basketball Tournament as a junior.  She also earned All-City, All-Conference and All-State Second-Team honors.  Beck was a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year National Merit Scholar.

Beck lives in Mitchell, S.D., and obtained a Master of Arts degree in educational policy and administration from DWU in 2017.
