
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 18 honorees in addition to over 11,000 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and over 2,000 NAIA Scholar Teams as a part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day on Wednesday. The day recognizes the association's highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators, and coaches. Additionally, the association announced the three-member class of the 2021-22 NAIA Hall of Fame.
Dakota Wesleyan has 57 student-athletes tabbed as 2020-21 NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award winners. One student-athlete for cheer; two student-athletes in wrestling; three student-athletes in men's basketball and softball; six student-athletes for baseball and football; four student-athletes in women's basketball and women's soccer; nine student-athletes in volleyball; and 12 student-athletes in track and field and cross country.
Baseball gets the nod for six athletes; Drew DeMers, Joseph Hanisch, Layne Stafford, Cole Barthel, Cole Hellie, and Zackary Satterwhite.
Cheer grabbed one spot with Logan Amundson.
Football places six on the scholar-athlete list with Joshua Garry, Caden Milmine, Samuel Kretschmar, Dominick Warmbein, Adam DeJong, and Maxwell Schoenfelder.
DWU track and field and cross-country place 12 in Brendan Langbehn, Devin Rihanek, Caden Milmine, Brendan Langbehn, Austin Hughes, Macey Bohl, Savannah Schmidt, Annika Vermeulen, Lydia Gerber, Morgan Taft, Lia Guigui, Darby Deffenbaugh.
Tigers golf earns seven more spots for scholar-athletes in Nate Hohn, Wyatt Voelker, Brooke Ehlers, Ronae Klein, Megan Hinker, Kaitlyn Greenhoff, and Jordan Glanzer.
Men's basketball places three on the Scholar-Athlete list in Koln Oppold, Jeffrey Schuch, and Ace Zorr.
Men's wrestling places two student-athletes on scholar-athlete honors with Marcus Urban and Carter Max.
DWU Softball grabs three more spots with Stephanie Gabel, Adriana Thomason, and Haley Linke.
Women's basketball honorees are Kaylee Kirk, Natalie Gottlob, Grace Imbery, and Haylee Mork.
Tigers' women's soccer earned four spots on the scholar-athlete list with Courtney Mascarenas, Kindra Clark, Michaela Herman, and Kassidy Johnson.
Volleyball holds nine on the scholar-athlete list in Elena Svingen, Chaydon Metzger, Sara Herman, Faith Tyler, Mackenzie Miller, Miah Kunkel, Mariah Gloe, Madeline Else, and Jadie DeLange.
