MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University, Orthopedic Institute (OI), and Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital (SFSH) have recently formed a new partnership.
This collaboration ensures DWU athletes will have access to the best orthopedic sports medicine services in the region. It will also provide essential support to the DWU Athletic Training (AT) clinical staff and the Director of Strength and Conditioning at DWU, both crucial for helping athletes perform at their best and avoid injuries. Additionally, OI will provide sports medicine coverage at all home football games.
Brad Pfeifle, Vice President of Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine at OI sees great benefit in this collaboration. "Orthopedic Institute and Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital have a long-standing history of providing services and access to sports medicine staff for DWU athletes and AT faculty. We are proud to formalize this partnership and support the DWU community. That is important to us."
DWU president Dan Kittle looks forward to the new arrangement. "Orthopedic Institute has become such a respected member of the medical community in the region. The location of their clinic right here in Mitchell is a definite benefit to our students, employees and community supporters. We look forward to their professional expertise working with our talented Athletic Training staff."
Pfeifle is excited about this new chapter. "OI and SFHS are the original sports medicine providers in the region. With our clinic in Mitchell, we will be able to provide Dakota Wesleyan athletes with direct access to OI and SFHS experts daily." OI was on the sidelines for the first time for DWU football players at Dakota State University on Aug. 29 and will be at the first home game for the Tigers on Sept. 7.
