Tiger bats held quiet in DH at MBU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team concluded a four-game set with No. 21 Missouri Baptist University in a doubleheader Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.

For the second straight day, the Tigers were unable to get the bats going and dropped two to the Spartans. Game one saw MBU score six in the second inning and cruise to a 10-2 win, while DWU hung close in game two, but MBU scored three late insurance runs and captured a 7-2 victory. The sweep drops DWU to 0-7 on the season.

Senior Michal Kinzler (East Grand Forks, Minn.) got the start in game one for the Tigers, going three innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits. Kinzler is 0-1 on the season. Senior first baseman Neil Nagle (Oslo, Minn.) finished with three hits, including a double in the game, while senior outfielder Austin Calhoon (Winner, S.D.) picked up the team's lone RBI.

Senior Daniel Galvez (San Francisco, Calif.) took the mound in game two for DWU, allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits, including a home run, while striking out one. Senior second baseman Cole Wenande (Alexandria, S.D.) finished with a triple and a run scored, while Calhoon and Nagle each had an RBI.

The Tigers head south again next weekend to play five games over three days against Graceland University March 4-6 at a neutral site in Topeka, Kan.
