TIGERS SPLIT IN OPENING DAY SERIES WITH GRACELAND YELLOWJACKETS

Joplin, Mo. – Dakota Wesleyan walked away with a split from opening day in Joplin, Missouri against Graceland University. The Tigers fell in game one 4-3, despite sporting a 3-2 lead heading to the final frame. DWU allowed two unearned runs to come across and score on an error. In game two though the Tigers got their revenge flipping the table on the Yellowjackets getting the 4-3 nail biter win. With bases loaded and two outs, Sophomore Dexter Payne came out of the pen and pumped three fastballs by the GU batter to secure his first save and DWU first win of the season. Oscar Pravecek stepped up big for his team at the plate with his two-run shot in the fourth inning. Lane Darrow and Seth Christiansen both had solid days at the plate recording three hits between the two games while on the mound both starters Mitchell Sand, in his DWU debut, and Alexander Mizsak turned in quality starts on the mound.
