TIGERS EARN CONVINCING 11-5 WIN OVER DICKINSON STATE BEHIND MEYERS STRONG START AND TEAM HITTING

Tucson, Ariz. – Dakota Wesleyan baseball earned their first win on their Tucson spring break trip in convincing fashion with an 11–5 victory over Dickinson State. The Tigers are now 2-0 on the season against the Blue Hawks.

After a scoreless first DWU got on the board in the second inning after Carter Brown singled, Joseph Tharaldson singled, Drew Kitchens hit into a fielders choice, and Seth Christiansen singled, each scoring a run.

The Tigers added to their early lead in the third inning after Dickinson State committed an error and Tharaldson hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Caleb Meyers got the nod and his first ever start for DWU and earned the win. The southpaw gave up seven hits, three earned, while punching out six in his six innings of work. Meyers was relieved by Logan Davis who got the final three outs while surrendering one run and working out of bases loaded.

Dakota Wesleyan racked up 11 hits in the game. Christiansen, Tharaldson, Carter Olek, and Brown each collected two hits for the Tigers while Kitchens and Tharaldson drove in three runs apiece. Most of the Tigers production came from the bottom of the order with the 6-9 hitters accounting for seven of the 11 total hits. Landon Ruesink recorded the lone extra base hit for the Tigers with his double in the first.
