Dakota Wesleyan Looks to Bounce Back After Tough Losses on Sunday

Baldwin City, Kan. – Dakota Wesleyan traveled to Baker on Sunday hoping for a win but fell short. However, they have a chance to bounce back in Monday's games.

Game 1: Dakota Wesleyan 0, Baker (KS) 8

Dakota Wesleyan struggled offensively in an 8-0 loss to Baker University. The Tigers managed just four hits throughout the game, with Caleb Meyers, Joseph Tharaldson, Thomas Dutton, and Caleb Breuer each contributing a hit. Tigers were unable to push any runs across.

Mitchell Sand (0-2) threw 5.1 innings, allowing 8 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Nolan Dvorak pitched 0.2 innings of relief, facing 2 batters and striking out 1.

Baker's offense was led by Eli Young with 2 RBIs and Tyson Wallace, who drove in 3. John Green (1-1) earned the win, throwing 6 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits, and striking out 4.

The Tigers will look to regroup and refocus as they prepare for game two

Game 2: Dakota Wesleyan 4, Ottawa (KS) 2

In a hard-fought battle, Dakota Wesleyan was defeated 4-2. The Tigers struggled offensively, managing just two hits over the course of the game.

Caleb Meyers stood out offensively for the Tigers, driving in both RBIs, including a triple. Lane Darrow added a hit and a run, while Caleb Breuer contributed a run as well. However, the Tigers left several runners on base, limiting their scoring opportunities.

On the mound, Dakota Munger (0-2) took the loss after pitching 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, while striking out 4. Broc Berry and Caleb Meyers both pitched in relief, but the Tigers were unable to rally back.

Dakota Wesleyan drops to 0-5 on the season but will look to bounce back tomorrow as they take on Graceland (IA) for a 10:00 a.m. double header.
