
Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Mount Marty, 4–0 and 11–0. The Tigers totaled seven hits on the day, with Carter Olek recording two in Game 2. Mitchell Sand and Dakota Munger each gave five innings on the mound, and DWU played error-free defense in the opener.
Game 1: Mount Marty 4, Dakota Wesleyan 0
Dakota Wesleyan dropped the first game of the doubleheader against Mount Marty, 4–0, at Drake Field. Despite the loss, the Tigers played a clean defensive game and got steady work from their pitching staff.
Mitchell Sand started for DWU and threw five innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out three. Nathaniel Huisken followed with two innings of relief, giving up one hit, one earned run, and striking out one.
Defensively, the Tigers committed no errors. Joseph Tharaldson recorded five assists at shortstop, and the team totaled 21 putouts and 10 assists over seven innings.
Offensively, Dakota Wesleyan tallied three hits: a double by Ean Laird and singles from Lane Darrow and Tommy Dutton. The Tigers drew three walks but left six runners on base.
Mount Marty scored twice in the second, once in the fifth, and once in the seventh. Will Gardner hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Lancers. Slayder Watterson earned the win, throwing six shutout innings.
Game 2: Mount Marty 11, Dakota Wesleyan 0
In the second game of the doubleheader, Dakota Wesleyan was held to four hits in an 11–0 loss at Drake Field. The Tigers used four pitchers to cover nine innings against a deep Mount Marty lineup.
Dakota Munger started and threw five innings, allowing five runs on five hits. Munger induced eight groundouts and threw 86 pitches before turning it over to the bullpen. Dexter Payne, typically a position player, threw three innings in relief, allowing three runs while striking out two.
At the plate, Dakota Wesleyan collected four hits. Carter Olek led the way with a 2-for-4 performance. Payne and Carter Brown each added a hit, with Brown also drawing two walks. In total, DWU reached base nine times.
Defensively, the Tigers recorded 27 outs with just one error. Tharaldson had another efficient game at shortstop with six assists, and Ruesink added two more from second base. Olek also stole a base.
Mount Marty scored in the fourth, sixth, seventh, and ninth innings, including home runs from Shugo Kondo and Kannon Dumon. Palmer Jacobs earned the win with six shutout innings.
