HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cayden Cunningham and the Tigers offense started their first drive on their 43-yard line with 14:07 remaining in the opening quarter.
- The DWU offense ran six plays for a 16-yard gain before, having to punt on fourth and 11.
- Morningside opened the scoring with a 21-yard touchdown pass for the 7-0 lead with 8:28 remaining in the first quarter.
- After the Mustangs ran four plays, Jacob Schafer grabbed an interception and the ten-yard return cutting Morningside's drive short.
- The Tigers went three and out after the Schafer interception.
- Morningside tallied another touchdown with 1:36 left in the opening quarter after seven plays that took them 71-yards and two minutes and 23-seconds off the clock.
- In the second quarter, both DWU and MU had back-to-back-to-back penalties that moved a third down and seven situation to a third and 12; then back again to a third and seven.
- The Mustangs ran three more plays before notching yet another touchdown for a 21-0 lead over DWU.
- Morningside earned one more touchdown before halftime for a 28-0 lead over the Tigers after two-quarters played.
- It wasn't until the fourth quarter and down 45-0, the Tigers offense put together a string of four plays stretching 78-yards for their first and only touchdown of the game.
- Jamin Arend hit the gap and ran for the 64-yard touchdown.
- The Mustangs came back on their next drive for the final touchdown and the final score of Mustangs 52 Tigers 7.
- DWU tallied 207 total yards of offense, 77 passing yards, and 130 rushing yards in the game.
- The Tigers had over 28-minutes of possession in the game while allowing the Mustangs only 27 and a half minutes of possession.
