Sioux City, Iowa – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball falls at the hands of No. 12 Morningside on the road. Nick Wittler led the team in scoring as DWU shot 38.0% from the field as a team.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tigers got off to a slow start in their first conference showdown of the season, falling behind 17-5 after six minutes of play.
  • After nine and a half minutes of game time, the Tigers were down six, making it the closest they came to tying the game in the first half after a three-pointer from Mason Larson.
  • Heading into the locker room at halftime, DWU was down 24-36.
  • Dakota Wesleyan shot 33.3% from the field, beyond the arc, and at the foul line in the first half.
  • The Mustangs were shooting 48.5% from the field, 25% beyond the arc after 20 minutes of play.
  • DWU was outrebounded by MU in the first half 14-22 and gave up nine turnovers while forcing eight Mustang turnovers.
  • Dakota Wesleyan kept the second half close through the first ten minutes of play.
  • Morningside went on a 6-0 run that lasted four minutes and extended their lead to 59-41 over the Tigers.
  • Once DWU began to find some rhythm, it was too late as they fall to No. 12 Mustangs 74-51.
  • In the first conference matchup of the 2021-22 season, the Tigers were outshot 38% to 48.4% from the field.
  • The Tigers shot 39.3% beyond the arc while holding Morningside to shooting 33.3% from distance.
  • Morningside out rebounded Dakota Wesleyan 38-28.
  • The Tigers turned the ball over 16 times, allowing the Mustangs to tally 18-points off those turnovers.
