DWU MEN’S BASKETBALL STUMBLES AGAINST JIMMIES ON THE ROAD

Jamestown, N.D. – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball drops their second conference game of the season to the University of Jamestown as they shoot 50.9% from the field. Despite their shooting percentage, the Tigers collected 13 points off 11 UJ turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tigers and Jimmies were scoreless through the first two minutes of play until UJ earned their first points with two made free throws.
  • Drew Cole put DWU on the board with a layup, tying the game at 2-2.
  • Dakota Wesleyan grabbed their first lead of the game with 14:41 left in the first half, but it was short-lived as the Jimmies hit a shot on the other end.
  • With 12-minutes remaining in the opening half, Koln Oppold gave DWU a 9-7 lead.
  • The Tigers next trip down the court, Oppold nailed another shot, this time from deep to extend the lead 12-7, forcing the Jimmies to a timeout.
  • Coach Wilber and company had five lead changes before the Jimmies went on a 7-0 run to close the first half with a 29-23 lead.
  • Opening the second half of the game, UJ quickly extended their lead to 36-25 after nearly three minutes of game time, forcing a timeout from Coach Matt Wilber.
  • Out of the 30-second pause, DWU cut the Jimmie lead to eight with 16:17 remaining in regulation.
  • The Tigers could not pull the Jimmies back within a few possessions despite going on a 7-2 run that span over two minutes.
  • With several missed shots late in the game, DWU falls on the road to UJ 77-67.
  • Over the 40-minutes, the Tigers were outshot from the field as DWU shot 50.9% and UJ shot 52.6%.
  • As each team had 11 turnovers, but Dakota Wesleyan notched 13 points off those turnovers compared to Jamestown only gaining nine.
  • The Tigers tallied 30 points in the paint, and the DWU bench chipped in with 26 points of their own.
