Dickinson, N.D. – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball drops their final game in Dickinson to Montana Western. DWU shot their worst from the field all season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • DWU got off to a great start against Montana Western Saturday evening, as they found themselves up 10-6 after the first five minutes.
  • MW tied the game several times throughout the first ten minutes of the first half, but the Tigers were able to stay on top through that time.
  • The Bulldogs flipped the game with 9:39 left in the opening half when they grabbed a 19-14 lead after a 7-0 run spanning a minute and a half.
  • Dakota Wesleyan was scoreless for nearly five minutes until Koln Oppold broke the drought with a field goal as they trailed 21-16.
  • After Oppold's made field goal, the Tigers were scoreless for the next five minutes until Tyus Arends made a three-pointer.
  • The Bulldogs led DWU 36-19 as they headed to the locker rooms for halftime.
  • Starting the second half, Dakota Wesleyan got off to a hot start once again, going on an 11-0 run to close the deficit to six points.
  • Despite the hot start by the Tigers, the Bulldogs quickly extended their lead to 56-37 with ten and a half minutes left in the game.
  • At the three-and-a-half-minute mart, DWU tallied their last point of the game as Oppold converted on this second free throw, as the Tigers fell 50-78.
  • Dakota Wesleyan shot 29% from the floor, eight percent beyond the arc, and 75% at the free-throw line
  • Montana Western shot 42.1% from the field, 30% from distance, and 88% at the foul line, converting on 22-of-25 free throw attempts.
  • The Tigers were outrebounded 47-39 in the game.
  • DWU notched four steals, three blocks, and forced eight Bulldog turnovers.
  • The MW bench chipped in with 19 points as the DWU bench tallied 12.
