Sioux Center, Iowa – Dakota Wesleyan University men's basketball slides to 3-4 in conference play after three players score in double-digits. DWU was outrebounded 26-40 in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Dakota Wesleyan kicked things off by forcing a Dordt timeout just a mere 40-seconds into the game.
  • Mason Larson put the Tigers on the board first with a shot beyond the arc for the 3-0 lead early on.
  • The DWU lead was short-lived as the Defenders flipped the score for a 5-3 lead.
  • With just under 10-minutes to play in the first half, Dakota Wesleyan cut the Dordt lead to four as Larson collected on another triple.
  • After the Defenders extended their lead to 27-19, it forced a timeout from head coach Wilber with four minutes and 15-seconds left in the first half.
  • Koln Oppold hit the last shot before halftime as DWU trailed 32-23 at the break.
  • Throughout the first half, the Tigers shot 30.3% from the field and 17.6% beyond the arc.
  • Dordt outrebounded Dakota Wesleyan 23-16 through the first 20-minutes.
  • Just under four minutes into the second half, the Tigers climbed back within two points as Nick Wittler made a shot beyond the arc, bringing the score to 36-38 Dordt lead.
  • Dakota Wesleyan picked up their second lead of the game and first lead of the second half as Jeffrey Schuch added two points for the 43-42 lead with 12-minutes remaining in the game.
  • The DWU lead was short-lived as Dordt jumped back ahead 47-43 just two minutes later.
  • The Tigers scored their final points of the game with 27-seconds left as they fell to Dordt 58-72 on the road.
  • In the game, Dakota Wesleyan shot 39.3% from the floor, 26.9% beyond the arc, and was 3-of-3 at the free-throw line.

Lauderdale on Saturday, December 18 at 6 p.m. against Division 2 opponent Peru State. Then at 3 p.m. on Sunday, DWU will face St. Thomas. Both games will be held on the campus of St. Thomas University.
