TURNOVERS PLAUGE TIGERS IN TUSSLE WITH BULLDOGS

Seward, Neb. – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball team could not secure a win against the No. 23 ranked Concordia Bulldogs on the road. The Tigers turned the ball over 18 times compared to the Bulldogs seven.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tigers only led once in the game, just a mere 30-seconds in after Sawyer Schultz collected on a three-pointer for the 3-2 lead.
  • Through the next seven and a half minutes of play, the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 21-7 for the 13-point lead.
  • Nick Wittler cut the Concordia lead to nine points after a three-point jumper was good, with 8:41 remaining in the first half, forcing a CUNE timeout.
  • Concordia saw their lead diminish even more after Teegan Evers made a layup in the paint, bringing the Tigers within five.
  • In the remaining minutes, DWU tried to close the gap, but after the first 20-minutes of play were still trailing CUNE 45-38.
  • The Tigers shot 51.7% from the floor, 38.5% beyond the arc, and 3-of-3 at the foul line in the first half.
  • Dakota Wesleyan got off a slow start in the second half until Kallan Herman jumpstarted a short 4-0 run bringing the Tigers within seven of tying the game.
  • The single-digit deficit was short-lived by DWU as the Bulldogs quickly jumped back out to a ten-point lead.
  • After two made free throws by Jakob Dobney, DWU notched their final points of the game with 71, as the Bulldogs, grab the win 88-71.
  • In the game, DWU shot 43.1% from the floor, 40% beyond the arc, and 84.6% at the free-throw line.
  • The Tigers held the Bulldogs to shooting only 31.3% beyond the arc.
  • DWU outrebounded CUNE 33-29 and 10-5 on second-chance points.

  • Teegan Evers: 17 points, 70 FG%, 50 3-pt%, 1-for-1 on free throws, four rebounds, one steal, and one block
  • Jeffrey Schuch: Nine points, 4-for-4 on free throws, six rebounds, and four assists
