DWU MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS FINAL REGULAR SEASON GAME AT HOME

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan men's basketball got off to a slow start in the regular season finale from the Corn Palace Saturday evening. Of the Tigers first eight points to open the game, Mason Larson tallied six of them, both off shots beyond the arc.

How It Happened

• The Bulldogs came out with a 6-0 start of the Tigers through nearly the first two minutes of play.
• Koln Oppold put DWU on the board with two points after converting on both shots from the charity stripe.
• Jeffrey Schuch closed the CUNE lead to four (15-11) after he collected on a shot from beyond the arc with five minutes off the clock.
• As Concordia continued to have success in the paint over Dakota Wesleyan, the Tigers four-point deficit quickly turned into 13 with eight minutes left to play in the first half.
• Schuch and Oppold collected on the two final baskets for DWU seconds before the halftime buzzer as the Tigers trailed the Bulldogs 44-32 at the break.
• Larson made a layup in the paint with 18-minutes left in regulation to cut the Bulldogs lead to 11.
• The Tigers ultimately dropped the final game of the regular season 86-70 to the Bulldogs.
• Overall, DWU shot 43.9% from the floor, 50% beyond the arc and 81.8% at the foul line.
• The Bulldogs shot 46% from the field, 50% from deep, and 82.6% at the free throw line.
• CUNE outrebounded DWU 35-27 and in points in the paint 36-20.
• The Tigers bench chipped in with 23 points, led by Sawyer Schultz with 11.
