Beatrice, Neb. –
The Dakota Wesleyan men's golf team is currently in sixth place after two rounds of golf in the GPAC Championships. Connor Calahan leads the squad as he is tied for 12th place after he went three over in both rounds (75). Peyton Bettcher follows a few spots behind tied for 18th and Jackson Childs and Juan Florez are tied at 24th. Drew Norberg, a new member of the Tiger golf team, shot 15 over for two rounds and is tied for the 45th spot.
Florez shot an 81 in the first round but was able to turn it around with a 73 in the second round, as well as the rest of the team showed big improvement in the second round. Calahan carded five birdies in 36 holes to stay within the top group of golfers. There is only a ten-stroke difference between sixth place and second place with one round of golf remaining.
Head Coach Jeff Meyerink had this to say about the first day of golf, "I appreciated how all the guys embraced the team aspect today and no one out there made it about themselves or their individual performances. There was such a great, focused, and positive vibe within our DWU group and we kept it going through all 36 holes today, something that can be hard to do sometimes. They really were feeding off how each other were playing and knew what they needed to do to get a round in the clubhouse. Outstanding performances by all!"
