MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell at home to Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Midland University 2-0 Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
The Tigers fell behind 1-0 in the first half on a goal from Midland's Ali Sodal, while the Warriors tacked on a second-half insurance goal in the 60th minute from Nate Mishou.
Midland outshot DWU 13-6, while putting nine shots on goal compared to three from the Tigers. The game was physical with DWU picking up 12 fouls to seven from Midland.
The Tigers were given five cards in the game including a red card near the end of regulation to junior Lionel Karyea (Brooklyn Park, Minn.).
DWU junior goalkeeper Alex Nelson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) made seven saves to help keep his team close.
The Tigers look to get back on track against on senior night against Briar Cliff University at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
