Tiger men roll over Lancers

YANKTON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team scored early and often in a 7-1 win over Mount Marty College in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday in Yankton, S.D.

Senior forward Chaz Foss (Rapid City, S.D.) got the Tigers rolling with a goal in the 13th minute and put DWU up 2-0 less than a minute later on a penalty kick.

Foss also netted a second-half goal to earn a hat trick. Foss, who leads the Tigers with 10 goals this season, let six shots go and put five on target to help the Tigers improve to 8-7 overall and 3-4 in the GPAC.

Senior Ryan West (Sioux Falls, S.D.) also had a strong day for the Tigers. He scored two goals in the second half on headers to go along with two assists. Junior Adam Jahnel (Blair, Neb.) also found the back of the net to go along with an own goal that found its way past the MMC goalkeeper.

Senior Tyler Grilley (Sioux Falls, S.D.) had the assist on both of the goals for West, while Foss picked up an assist in the first half on the goal from Jahnel.

The Tigers outshot the Lancers 18 to 11 and put 10 shots on goal compared to four from MMC.

DWU continues GPAC play against Midland University at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D.
