Tiger men drop regular season finale, draw Hastings in playoffs

SEWARD, Neb. – A second-half goal from Concordia University was all that was needed for the Bulldogs to top the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team in the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season finale for both team Saturday in Seward, Neb.

The Bulldogs topped the Tigers 1-0 on a goal in the 62nd minute from Nathan Northcutt on an assist from Mark Campbell. The loss set the Tigers up as the eighth seed for the GPAC playoffs, set to start Thursday. DWU will go up against the regular season league champion Hastings College in Hastings, Neb.

DWU was held to two shots on goal, while the Bulldogs took 20 total shots to six from the Tigers.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Nelson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) helped keep the Tigers in the game with six saves.

Junior Josue Garcia (Mazatlan Sinaloa, Mexico) and senior Eric Nelson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) each put a shot on net for DWU.

The Tigers will take on the No. 1 seed Broncos at 6 p.m. Thursday in Hastings, Neb.
