DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team stalled on offense against Clarke University in a loss to the Crusaders on the road Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.
Clarke got on the board early and DWU was unable to respond as the Crusaders tacked on two more goals despite playing down a man for the final 50 minutes to win 3-0. DWU is now 1-2 overall after two losses in Iowa over the weekend.
The Clarke scoring started in the 10th minute on a goal from Erik Baumann on a feed from Austin Perry. Oscar Chavez and Jordan Perry each added a goal for the Crusaders.
Freshman John Sutherland (Hartlepool, England) made his first start of his career for the Tigers. He stopped three shots in the loss. DWU managed just two shots on net, one from senior Travis Moodie (Pierre, S.D.) and the other from freshman Daniel Clas (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
The Tigers head east again later this week for a game against Viterbo University at 5 p.m. Thursday in La Crosse, Wis.
