Cobber’s defeat Tigers in double overtime, 2-1

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team came up just short on Friday night as the Concordia College-Moorhead defeated the Tigers 2-1 in double overtime in Moorhead, Minn.

DWU got on the board first with a goal by freshman Connor Dodds (Durham, England) in the 28th minute, his first in a Tiger uniform. The Cobbers evened the score on a goal in the 35th minute by Sam Gess.

The score remained tied at one until the second session of overtime. In the 108th minute, Matthew Fulks scored the go ahead goal for Concordia-Moorhead, giving the Cobber's the win.

Senior Peter Wartenberg (Chaska, Minn.) recorded three shots in goal, while Daniel Clas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) tallied two shots on goal. Concordia-Moorhead outshot DWU 19-14. Tiger goalkeeper Gaston Miteff (Berazategui, Argentina) dropped to 0-2 on the year while recording eight saves.

The Tigers (0-2) visit Central Christian College (Kan.) at noon, Saturday Sept. 3 in McPherson, Kan.
