Wartenberg and Pemberton lead Tigers to 3-1 victory

YANKTON, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team was able to get back to its winning ways, defeating Mount Marty College 3-1 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference bout on Tuesday in Yankton, S.D.

  Senior Peter Wartenberg (Chaska, Minn.) scored in the 55th minute from a corner kick by Jacob Mello (Bedford, Texas), leading to a goal from Gage Pemberton (Overland Park, Kan.) in the 56th minute. DWU outshot the Lancers 22-11, while goalie Gaston Miteff (Berazategui, Argentina) tallied four saves in the net.

 Daniel Clas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) recorded four shots on goal, while Wartenberg and Pemberton added two apiece.

 The Tigers (2-11) hit the road for a GPAC battle with Hastings College at 7:30 p.m., Saturday in Hastings, Neb.
