Briar Cliff tops Tiger men on Saturday

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team was unable to fend off the high-powered Briar Cliff University men's soccer team on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa. The Chargers tallied six goals in the second half to defeat the Tigers 8-1 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action.

 After a quick goal in the first half by Briar Cliff, the Tigers found the net on a goal by Shayne Quinn (Mesa, Ariz.) off an assist by Rene Monteil (Fremont, Calif.). However, that's as far as the Tigers would get on the scoreboard. BCU went on to score in the 34th, 54th, 61st, 62nd, 72nd, 73rd and 86th minute of the game.

 The Chargers outshot the Tigers 23-12 in the loss.

 Gage Pemberton (Overland Park, Kan.) tallied five shots and two shots on goal. Montiel and Quinn added two shots on goal. Goalie Gaston Miteff (Berazategui, Argentina) had three saves in the net.

 The Tigers (3-10, 0-6 GPAC) steps out of conference action to take on Gustavus Adolphus College from St. Peter, Minn., at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
