Gustavus downs DWU with second-half surge

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team took on non-conference foe, Gustavus Adolphus College and were unable to slow the Gusties down in the second half as the Tigers fell 5-0 Tuesday night at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.

The Tigers (3-11, 0-6 GPAC) kept pace with Gustavus in the first half as they headed to intermission tied at zero.

However, late in the second half, the Gusties found their rhythm as they scored a goal in the 69th, 71st, 78th, 85th and 88th minute. DWU was unable to find any offensive firepower in the second half as they could not find the back of the net.

Shayne Quinn (Mesa, Ariz.) finished with three shots and one shot on goal, while Rene Montiel (Fremont, Calif.) and Liam LaFrance (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) each notched a shot. Gaston Miteff (Berazategui, Argentina) recorded eight saves for the Tigers in the net.

DWU returns to conference action as they take on Midland University for Senior Night at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
