Tigers down Lancers in final home match of the season

MITCHELL, S.D. – In their final home game of the 2017 season, the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team scored early and often on their way to defeating Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Mount Marty College, 4-0 Tuesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.

 Connor Dodds (Durham, England) found the back of the net on an Andrew Luoma (Fairbanks, Alaska) corner kick in the second minute of the game.

 Shayne Quinn (Mesa, Ariz.) was able to add a second goal of the first half for the Tigers (4-12, 1-7 GPAC) to give them a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

 Quinn got to work in the second half as he added his second goal of the game in the 60th minute. Senior Derek Brenner (Yankton, S.D.) notched the final goal of the game in his last game at home in a Tiger uniform to give DWU the victory.

 Dodds tallied a goal and two assists, while Quinn and Brenner each added a goal. Liam LaFrance (Winnipeg, Monitoba, Canada) and Luoma notched an assist for the Tigers in the win.

 DWU closes out its regular season against Doane University at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Crete, Neb.
