FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team's season did not begin as planned after dropping the season opener to Waldorf University, 6-0 Saturday in Forest City, Iowa.
The Warriors (1-1) got off to a hot start as they scored two goals in the first five minutes and took a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Waldorf added three goals in the second half to take a 6-0 lead. The Tigers (0-1) were unable to find the back of the net after recording four shots throughout the game.
Pedro Lopez (Lewisville, Texas) finished with two shots, while Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Caleb Larson (Mitchell, S.D.) tallied a shot each. DWU recorded 11 saves to two saves by Waldorf.
The Tigers come home to play the home opener against Clarke University at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
