DWU men’s soccer picks up road victory

McPHERSON, Kan. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team used a first-half goal to defeat Central Christian College (Kan.) 1-0 Saturday in McPherson, Kan.

 The Tigers (2-3) and Central Christian did not find the net until the Tigers added a goal late in the first half. Pedro Lopez (Lewisville, Texas) notched the lone goal of the game in the 35th minute thanks to an assist by Julian Mole (Canning, Buenos Aires).

 Lopez finished with three shots, two shots on goal and a goal, while four other Tigers finished with a shot. DWU completed the game with seven shots compared to 16 shots by Central Christian. Matthew Campbell (Duluth, Minn.) notched the shutout in the net as he tallied seven saves in the game.

 The Tigers will open GPAC play against Dordt College at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
