Offense pushes Tigers past Saints in GPAC action

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team used three different scores and an own goal to grab a 4-1 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory over Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D. Wednesday afternoon.

 DWU (3-4, 1-1 GPAC) started things off well offensively but could not find the back of the net until the 30th minute. Reece Weber (Brookings, S.D.) found Julian Mole (Canning, Buenos Aires) for a header that gave Mole his first goal as a Tiger and gave DWU a 1-0 lead. Minutes before halftime, the Tigers found the net again as Oscar Molina (Gillette, Wyo.) delivered a long goal to give DWU a 2-0 advantage heading into the locker room. 

 In the 49th minute, the Saints (0-9, 0-5 GPAC) answered with a goal to cut the Tigers lead to one. Four minutes later, Sebastian Machado (Buenos Aires, Argentina) answered with a goal of his own to give DWU a two-goal lead. Presentation scored an own goal in the 78th minute to give the Tigers the victory 4-1.

 Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished with five shots on the day, while Mole contributed four shots and a goal. Machado tallied a shot and a goal, as Molina recorded a shot and a goal. Matthew Campbell (Duluth, Minn.) notched 11 saves on 12 shots in the victory.

 The Tigers will travel north for a non-conference matchup to battle NCAA Division II University of Mary at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bismarck, N.D.
