MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team dropped a Great Plains Athletic Conference match against the University of Jamestown Thursday night on a cold rainy night in Mitchell.
The Tigers (4-5, 1-2 GPAC) held their ground through the first period of play as DWU and Jamestown (4-5-1, 3-2 GPAC) both had four shots going into the locker room and the score remained 0-0.
After a thirty-minute lightning delay, the Jimmies got their offense going in the 55th minute with a goal. The Tiger offense made a late surge and put pressure on the Jamestown defense, but it was not enough as the Jimmies added two more goals including a penalty kick and took the match 3-0.
Jamestown outshot the Tigers 14-5 in the match. Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) notched three shots on the night while Cooper Hansen (Tea, S.D.) and Oscar Menchaca (Lindsey, Calif.) each had one shot. Gaston Miteff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) tallied six saves on the night.
DWU will hit the road to matchup against Hastings College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Hastings, Neb.
