HASTINGS, Neb. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team ran into the No. 4 team in the country in Hastings College, and dropped the match 4-0 in Hastings, Neb., Saturday.
Hastings (9-2, 6-0 GPAC) came out of the gate firing as they got off 18 shots in the first half of play. The DWU (4-6, 1-3 GPAC) defense held strong through the first 30 minutes of the match not giving up a goal, but the Broncos scored a goal in the 33rd minute and held a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Hastings continued the offensive pressure scoring three goals in the second half to secure the victory over the Tigers 4-0.
Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) led DWU offensively with three shots, Tyler Anderson (Monticello, Minn.) finished with two shots and Cooper Hansen (Tea, S.D.) tallied one shot for the Tigers. Gaston Miteff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) started in net for DWU and grabbed eight saves.
DWU will be back in action against Dordt College 3:15 p.m. on Monday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
