Concordia defeats DWU in extra time

SEWARD, Neb. – After taking a 1-0 lead, the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team lost in extra time to Concordia University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference showdown Saturday in Seward, Neb.

 Neither team could get their offense going in the first half as both teams headed into halftime at a 0-0 draw.

 The Tigers (4-8-1, 1-5-1 GPAC) got the scoring going in the second half as Julian Mole (Canning, Buenos Aires) nailed a shot into the net to give DWU a 1-0 lead.

 Just a few moments later, the Bulldogs (3-2-2, 7-4-2 GPAC) tied the game with a goal of their own and forced extra time.

 Minutes into the first golden goal extra time period, Concordia scored and defeated DWU 2-1 on Saturday.

 Mole finished with two shots on goal and a goal, as Sebastian Machado (Buenos Aires, Argentina), John Sutherland (Hartlepool, England), Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.), Oscar Molina (Gillette, Wyo.) and Cooper Hansen (Tea, S.D.) tallied a shot each.

 The Tigers host Northwestern College in a GPAC contest at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
