Tigers fall to Doane in GPAC action

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team had offensive chances, but could not find the back of the net as DWU fell, 1-0 to Doane University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Mitchell.

 DWU (4-10-1, 1-7-1 GPAC) held Doane in check in the first half to begin the match. Doane (2-8-2, 2-6-1 GPAC) put the offensive pressure on early but the Tigers held strong. However, Doane was able to score in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

 In the second half, DWU put the offensive pressure on Doane as the Tigers tallied six shots and five corner kicks in the second half. DWU had great scoring chances but could not find the back of the net as DWU fell to Doane University 1-0.

 The offensive attack was led by Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) who finished with four shots. Caleb Larson (Mitchell, S.D.) got off two shots for the Tigers. Gaston Miteff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) got the start in the net for DWU and notched a save in the loss.

 DWU will battle Briar Cliff University at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
