How it Happened
Dordt University begins the matchup strong offensively with the first goal of the game by the 4th minute. Dakota Wesleyan looks to respond with Anthony Acosta and Cesar Requena both attempting to get on the board, but neither opportunity yields a DWU goal. The Defenders continue to lead 2-0 to end the first period.
To begin the second period, DU strives to continue their offensive but is stopped by goalkeeper Hunter Birozy collecting three saves to keep the Tigers alive. Senior midfielder, Grant Pierce, receives two opportunities at the 58th and 65th minute on goal, though both shots was saved by Dordt's goalkeeper.
Junior defender, Raul Aparicio, got the Tigers in the scoring column with a screamer from the corner that found the back of the net in the upper-left of the goal, just over the Defender reach. Towards the end of the matchup, Garrett Hanna looked to continue the ignited DWU attack with a penalty kick, however, Dordt holds on for the 6-1 home victory.
DWU goalkeeper Hunter Birozy concludes six saves in the net, white Grant Pierce and Garrett Hanna leads the Tigers with multiple shots. Raul Aparicio strikes the back of the net to get the Tigers on the board in the matchup.

"Todays result is very disappointing. At this level, individual mistakes will be punished, and in return scoring opportunities must be scored. We did not use our chances and committed too many individual mistakes. Dordt was the more efficient team."
