How it Happened
Dakota Wesleyan wasted no time taking control of the matchup with Colin Burke securing the first goal of the game in the 2nd minute. Following the opening goal, Doane University looks to capture the offensive momentum, but Hunter Birozy protects the net recording four saves by the 15th minute.
Both offenses trade possession for the remainder of the half, yet DWU looks to apply the offensive attack. Raul Aparicio and Colton Douglas attempts shots on goal in the 24th and 34th minute, though both attempts were denied.
To keep the offensive attack rolling in the second period, Juan Gomez and Grant Pierce extends the Tiger lead to 3-0 as they both find the back of the net in the 63rd and 84th minute. DWU's defensive unit contributes as DU looks to override the offensive attack but is easily denied. Ultimately, Dakota Wesleyan comes out of the Tiger battle with a 3-0 home victory.
Pierce paced DWU with two shots on goal, with one finding the back of the net. Meanwhile, six different Tigers attempt a shot on goal to keep DU's defense on their toes. Hunter Birozy and the Dakota Wesleyan's defensive unit protects the goal to record 15 saves in the matchup.
